बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके,

बल बुधि विद्या देहु मोहि,
हरहु कलेस विकार॥
सद्गुरु के चरण कमलों की धूल से अपने मन रूपी दर्पण को स्वच्छ कर, श्रीराम के दोषरहित यश का वर्णन करता हूँ जो धर्म, अर्थ, काम और मोक्ष रूपी चार फल देने वाला है। स्वयं को बुद्धिहीन जानते हुए, मैं पवनपुत्र श्रीहनुमान का स्मरण करता हूँ जो मुझे बल, बुद्धि और विद्या प्रदान करेंगे और मेरे मन के दुखों का नाश करेंगे॥
Having cleaned the mirror of my mind by taking the dust of lotus feet of my preceptor, I narrate the pure glory of Sri Ram Chandra, the giver of the four boons – Dharm, Arth, Kaam and Moksha. Knowing myself to be ignorant, I remember Sri Hanuman, the son of Pavan who will bestow upon me strength, wisdom and knowledge, and will eradicate my miseries.

श्री हनुमान की जय हो जो ज्ञान और गुण के सागर हैं, तीनों लोकों में वानरों के ईश्वर के रूप में विद्यमान श्री हनुमान की जय हो॥ आप श्रीराम के दूत, अपरिमित शक्ति के धाम, श्री अंजनि के पुत्र और पवनपुत्र नाम से जाने जाते हैं॥.
Salutations to Sri Hanuman, the ocean of wisdom and virtue.Salutations to Sri Hanuman, known as the Lord of monkeys in three worlds. You are the messenger of Sri Ram and the abode of incomparable strength. You are the son of mother Anjani and known as the son of Pavan deva (the lord of vital air).

आप महान वीर और बलवान हैं, वज्र के समान अंगों वाले, ख़राब बुद्धि दूर करके शुभ बुद्धि देने वाले हैं, आप स्वर्ण के समान रंग वाले, स्वच्छ और सुन्दर वेश वाले हैं, आपके कान में कुंडल शोभायमान हैं और आपके बाल घुंघराले हैं॥
You are very brave and mighty. Your body is hard like mountains.You remove bad instincts and bestow auspicious intelligence. Your complexion is golden colored. Your attire is clean and pretty. You wear earrings and your hair are curly.

आप महान वीर और बलवान हैं, वज्र के समान अंगों वाले, ख़राब बुद्धि दूर करके शुभ बुद्धि देने वाले हैं, आप स्वर्ण के समान रंग वाले, स्वच्छ और सुन्दर वेश वाले हैं, आपके कान में कुंडल शोभायमान हैं और आपके बाल घुंघराले हैं॥
You hold a mace and a flag in your hand. The sacred thread looks beautiful on your shoulder.

आप श्रीशिव के अंश और श्रीकेसरी के पुत्र हैं, आपके महान तेज और प्रताप की सारा जगत वंदना करता है॥
You are the emanation of Lord Shiva and the son of Sri Kesri. The entire universe worships Your aura and power.

गुनी अति चातुर।

करिबे को आतुर॥७॥
आप विद्वान, गुणी और अत्यंत बुद्धिमान हैं, श्रीराम के कार्य करने के लिए सदैव उत्सुक रहते हैं,
You are knowledgeable, virtuous, and very intelligent. You are always keen to do the work of Sri Ram.

आप सूक्ष्म रूप में श्रीसीताजी के दर्शन करते हैं, भयंकर रूप लेकर लंका का दहन करते है.
You see Sri Sita in a tiny form. You set Lanka afire in a dangerous form.
भीम रूप धरि
असुर सँहारे।
रामचंद्र के
काज सँवारे॥१०॥
विशाल रूप लेकर राक्षसों का नाश करते हैं और श्रीरामजी के कार्य में सहयोग करते हैं॥
You kill demons in a grand form. You complement the work of Sri Ram.
लाय सजीवन
लखन जियाये।
श्रीरघुबीर
हरषि उर लाये॥११॥
आपने संजीवनी बूटी लाकर श्रीलक्ष्मण की प्राण रक्षा की, श्रीराम आपको हर्ष से हृदय से लगाते हैं।
You saved the life of Sri Lakshman by bringing the ‘Sanjivani’ herb. Sri Ram embraces you to his heart with joy.
रघुपति कीन्ही
बहुत बड़ाई।
तुम मम प्रिय
भरतहि सम भाई॥१२॥
श्रीराम आपकी बहुत प्रशंसा करते हैं और आपको श्रीभरत के समान अपना प्रिय भाई मानते हैं॥
Sri Ram praises you a lot and considers you as his dear brother like Sri Bharat.
सहस बदन
तुम्हरो जस गावै।
अस कहि श्रीपति
कंठ लगावै॥१३॥
आपका यश हजार मुखों से गाने योग्य है, ऐसा कहकर श्रीराम आपको गले से लगाते हैं।
Sri Ram says your glory cannot be sung by even thousand mouths and embraces you.

दिगपाल जहाँ ते।
कबि कोविद कहि
सके कहाँ ते॥१५॥
यम, कुबेर आदि दिग्पाल भी आपके यश का वर्णन नहीं कर सकते हैं, फिर कवि और विद्वान कैसे उसका वर्णन कर सकते हैं।
Yamraj, Kuber and other kings of directions cannot describe your glory. Then what can be said for poets and the learned.
तुम उपकार
सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा।
राम मिलाय
राजपद दीन्हा॥१६॥
आपने सुग्रीव का उपकार करते हुए उनको श्रीराम से मिलवाया जिससे उनको राज्य प्राप्त हुआ॥
You obliged Sugriva by introducing to Sri Ram which helped him regain his kingdom.
तुम्हरो मंत्र
विभीषन माना।
लंकेश्वर भए
सब जग जाना॥१७॥
आपकी युक्ति से विभीषण माना और उसने लंका का राज्य प्राप्त किया, यह सब संसार जानता है।
Vibhishan listened to your advice and became the king of Lanka, this is known to all in the world.
जुग सहस्त्र
जोजन पर भानू।
लील्यो ताहि
मधुर फल जानू॥१८॥
आप दो हजार योजन दूर स्थित सूर्य को मीठा फल समझ कर खा लेते हैं॥
You swallow the Sun which is two thousand yojans away, considering it to be a sweet fruit.
प्रभु मुद्रिका
मेलि मुख माहीं।
जलधि लाँघि गए
अचरज नाहीं॥१९॥
प्रभु श्रीराम की अंगूठी को मुख में रखकर आपने समुद्र को लाँघ लिया, आपके लिए यह कोई आश्चर्य की बात नहीं है।
Keeping the ring of Sri Ram in your mouth,you crossed the ocean. For you it is not a wonder.
दुर्गम काज
जगत के जेते।
सुगम अनुग्रह
तुम्हरे तेते॥२०॥
इस संसार के सारे कठिन कार्य आपकी कृपा से आसान हो जाते हैं॥
All the difficult tasks of this world becomes easy by your grace.
राम दुआरे
तुम रखवारे।
होत न आज्ञा
बिनु पैसारे॥२१॥
श्रीराम तक पहुँचने के द्वार की आप सुरक्षा करते हैं, आपके आदेश के बिना वहाँ प्रवेश नहीं होता है,
The abode of Sri Ram is secured by You. Without your order, no one can enter inside.
सब सुख लहै
तुम्हारी सरना।
तुम रच्छक
काहू को डरना॥२२॥
आपकी शरण में सब सुख सुलभ हैं, जब आप रक्षक हैं तब किससे डरने की जरुरत है॥
In your refuge, all the pleasures are easily available. When you are the protector, who should one fear.
आपन तेज
सम्हारो आपै।
तीनों लोक
हाँक तें काँपै॥२३॥
अपने तेज को आप ही सँभाल सकते हैं, तीनों लोक आपकी ललकार से काँपते हैं।
Only You can control your luster. All the three worlds start trembling just by listening to your roar.
भूत पिसाच
निकट नहिं आवै।
महाबीर जब
नाम सुनावै॥२४॥
केवल आपका नाम सुनकर ही भूत और पिशाच पास
नहीं आते हैं॥
Ghosts and vampires don’t come near when they hear your name.
नासै रोग
हरै सब पीरा।
जपत निरंतर
हनुमत बीरा॥२५॥
महावीर श्री हनुमान जी का निरंतर नाम जप करने से रोगों का नाश होता है और वे सारी पीड़ा को नष्ट कर देते हैं।
Regular recitation of the name of almighty Sri Hanumanji ends diseases and removes pain.
संकट तें
हनुमान छुडावैं।
मन क्रम बचन
ध्यान जो लावै॥२६॥
जो श्री हनुमान जी का मन, कर्म और वचन से स्मरण करता है, वे उसकी सभी संकटों से रक्षा करते हैं॥
Whosoever medidates on Sri Hanumanji by mind, action and speech is rescued by him from all difficulties.
सब पर राम
तपस्वी राजा।
तिन के काज
सकल तुम साजा॥२७॥
सबसे परे, श्रीराम तपस्वी राजा हैं, आप उनके सभी कार्य बना देते हैं।
Sri Ram is the sage and king beyond all and you do all his work.
और मनोरथ
जो कोई लावै।
सोइ अमित
जीवन फल पावै॥२८॥
उनसे कोई भी इच्छा रखने वाले, सभी लोग अनंत जीवन का फल प्राप्त करते हैं॥
Anyone wishing anything from him gets the fruit of immortal, infinite life.

परताप तुम्हारा।
है परसिद्ध
जगत उजियारा॥२९॥
आपका प्रताप चारों युगों में विद्यमान रहता है, आपका प्रकाश सारे जगत में प्रसिद्ध है।
Your splendor is present in the four ages and your light of consciousness is famous in the world.
साधु संत के
तुम रखवारे।
असुर निकंदन
राम दुलारे॥३०॥
आप साधु- संतों की रक्षा करने वाले, असुरों का विनाश करने वाले और श्रीराम के प्रिय हैं॥
You are the protector of sages and saints, you kill the demons and you are very dear to Sri Ram.
अष्ट सिद्धि
नौ निधि के दाता।
अस बर दीन
जानकी माता॥३१॥
आप आठ सिद्धि और नौ निधियों के देने वाले हैं, आपको ऐसा वरदान माता सीताजी ने दिया है।
You are the giver of eight Sidhis and nine Nidhis, as per the boon given by mother Sita.
राम रसायन
तुम्हरे पासा।
सदा रहो
रघुपति के दासा॥३२॥
आपके पास श्रीराम नाम का रसायन है, आप सदा श्रीराम के सेवक बने रहें॥
You have life changing formula of devotion to Sri Ram. May you always remain in his service.
तुम्हरे भजन
राम को पावै।
जनम जनम के
दुख बिसरावै॥३३॥
आपके स्मरण से जन्म- जन्मान्तर के दुःख भूल कर भक्त श्रीराम को प्राप्त करता है
By remembering you constantly, a devotee forgets all the suffering of several lives and sees Sri Ram.
अंत काल
रघुबर पुर जाई।
जहाँ जन्म
हरि-भक्त कहाई॥३४॥
अंतिम समय में श्रीराम धाम (वैकुण्ठ) में जाता है और वहाँ जन्म लेकर हरि का भक्त कहलाता है॥
At the end of one’s life, one enters the abode of Sri Ram, gets the new birth and is known as a devotee of Sri Hari.

चित न धरई।
हनुमत से हि
सर्व सुख करई॥३५॥
दूसरे देवताओं को मन में न रखते हुए, श्री हनुमान से ही सभी सुखों की प्राप्ति हो जाती है।
Even if you do not remember any other god, remembering Sri Hanumanji alone gives all the pleasures.
संकट कटै
मिटै सब पीरा।
जो सुमिरै
हनुमत बलबीरा॥३६॥
जो महावीर श्रीहनुमान जी का नाम स्मरण करता है, उसके संकटों का नाश हो जाता है और सारी पीड़ा ख़त्म हो जाती है॥
Whosoever remembers Sri Hanumanji, his dangers get removed and all the pains disappear.
जै जै जै
हनुमान गोसाई।
कृपा करहु
गुरुदेव की नाई॥३७॥
भक्तों की रक्षा करने वाले श्री हनुमान की जय हो, जय हो, जय हो, आप मुझ पर गुरु की तरह कृपा करें।

साखी गौरीसा॥३९॥
जो इस श्री हनुमान चालीसा को पढ़ता है उसको सिद्धि प्राप्त होती है इस बात के साक्षी (गवाह) श्री शंकर भगवान हैं।
Anyone who reads this Sri Hanuman Chalisa would attain success (perfection); Lord Shiva, the husband of Gauri is a witness of this fact.
